The course below can be run in most areas of the Scotland and I like to remain as flexible as possible between East (Northern Cairngorms) and West (Locharber) as this allows us to move to where the conditions are best. Of course, if there is a particular area you would like to go to then that is not a problem.
Snow holing trips can be run just as an experience or as a method to allow other skills to be practiced. Whether you just fancy seeing what it is like to spend the night in a snow hole or you want to access some remote parts of the mountains at night time to practice some navigation just let me know. The length of courses is flexible and normally dependant on your ambitions and experience.
Snow Holing
Outline - If you have always wondered what it is like to dig your own snow hole and sleep in it then this is the course for you.
Content - Over the course you will learn the following skills: snow hole location and design, equipment needed to be comfortable and hazard avoidance. Any of the other skills on the winter pages can also be linked into snow holing trips just drop me a line to discuss.
Previous Experience - Dependant on ambitions but summer hill walking experience is essential.
