The courses below can be run in most areas of the UK, certain areas are better for certain types of climbing but if you are in any doubt then just get in touch. Of course, if there is a particular area you would like to go to then that is not a problem.
If you do not see exactly what you would like to do below, then please get in touch. Course content is flexible so if you would like 5 days with a mixture of rock improver and problem solving that is no problem. The length of courses is flexible and normally dependant on your ambitions and experience.
Introduction to Climbing (Single Pitch)
Outline – If you have never climbed or done a little on an indoor wall then this is a great way to try some climbing outside. It is a hugely rewarding past time providing a physical and mental challenge.
Content – Throughout the course, you will be introduced to the key skills required to second single pitch climbs. This will include fitting a harness, tying onto a rope, belaying, abseiling, gear removal and movement skills.
Previous Experience – None or some indoor climbing experience.
Ratio – 1:4
Rock Climber Improver (Multi or Single Pitch)
Outline – Done some climbing and decided you really like it? Then this is the course for you as it will allow you to develop your skills and experience in a safe way.
Content – Over the course you will develop the key skills required to second multi-pitch climbs competently. This will include tying into a belay, belaying from above and below, abseiling, guide book interpretation, route choice and movement skills. There may also be a chance for you to lead your own climbs.
Previous Experience – A few days of seconding single pitch routes outside.
Ratio – 1:2
Learning to Lead
Outline – Done some seconding and always thought you would like to have a shot on the sharp end? Then this is the course for you.
Content – Over the course you will revise the basic skills of seconding climbs and then move onto the more advance skills of leading. This will be done in a safe and progressive manor. Together we will look at gear placement, belay construction, movement skills, psychological tips for leading, route reading and route choice.
Previous Experience – Seconded at least 20 climbs up to VS outdoor or top-roped 20 French 6a’s indoors

Ropework and Problem Solving
Outline – Ever wondered what would happen if your friend got stuck half way up a big route or if the weather changed and you had to retreat from 100meters off the ground? If so, then this is the course for you.
Content – Throughout the course you will be introduced to the key skills required for problem solving on multi-pitch routes. The basic skills can be done at 1:4 ratio but the more advanced skills put into practice will be carried out at 1:2 ratio. We will look at skills like prussiking up and down a rope, abseiling, lowering and abseiling past a knot, assisted and un-assisted hoisting as well as escaping the system.
Previous Experience – Lead climbing to V.Diff standard
