Climbing at Latheronwheel

Sun and Sandstone

I have been out climbing at Latheronwheel today with Bill, this is a Sandstone Crag up on the North East Cost north of Helmsdale. It was a great day with a nice breeze and warm sun whilst it seems like the rest of Scotland was in the rain! This was my first time rock climbing so far this summer as I have been recovering from a bad back, it was great to be back out on rock. We climbed 8 routes between severe and E1 all on solid rock and with good pro. This would be a great venue for anyone climbing between about severe and E2 all single pitch and most with an abseil approach. The SMC guide book is not that clear but the Garry Latter has some excellent photo topos. I will certainly be back for some more!
