Welcome to Sandy Paterson - Mountaineering Instructor (MIC).

I run hill walking, navigation, scrambling, rock climbing, winter skills and ice climbing courses in the Cairngorms as well as all over Scotland - and often venture further afield in the UK, as well as offering instruction and guiding in wintry Norway and sunny Spain.

All courses can be tailored to your needs so it does not matter if you are a complete beginner or a more experienced mountaineer. If you do not see exactly what you are looking for please feel free to get in touch.

 
       
 

Winter Dates Published

I have now published my winter dates for open courses this winter. I will be running Winter Skills Weekend, Winter Mountaineering (3 Days) and Winter Climbing (3 Days) courses. Rjukan Ice Climbing - Norway 

I will be running a trip to Rjukan this winter to offer some ice climbing continenatal style - Steep ice, short walk ins and cold conditions! So if you are interested coming out to Rjukan then drop me a line or down load the PDF here. Remeber the earlier you book those flights the less they will cost! 

Cullin Ridge Traverses 

I am already taking bookings for scrambling in Skye and Cullin Traverses in May so if you fancy having a go at the classic Cullin Ridge just drop me an e-mail and we can sort some dates out. 

 
     

Courses and Guiding

Courses can be one of two types. "Skills" courses are aimed at teaching you new competencies and leaving you self sufficient in your chosen area. Alternatively, I offer guided holidays that will leave you free to enjoy the activity and not worry about the worries of leading, organising and the weather.
So whether you want to take your first steps in the great outdoors, climb a famous route, scale an isolated sea stack, pick up an ice axe for the first time or tick off that elusive winter climb, get in touch.

  AMI Member

I hold the Mountain Instructors Certificate (MIC); this is the highest qualification for UK mountaineering. For more information about my qualifications have a look at the ABOUT page.

 

I am a member of The Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and the MLTA. AMI is the association for anyone who holds an MIA or MIC.
